Pinterest Wednesday: 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!

Independence never felt more great! I am definitely grateful for freedom. This year, I will be celebrating this Independence Day from Richmond. I'm down here working but am living the holiday vicariously through Pinterest!

American flag via cake balls. DELISH!

Would love to make an American flag wreath

This would be a fab project to do with the {future} kiddos

WANT WANT WANT!

Pinterest Wednesday

Before I get to Pinterest Wednesday, there's a whole lot going on today! It's Dave Barnes' birthday, so happy birthday sir! It is also National Wear Your Lilly Day! So, get out there (in this heat wave) and wear your Lilly proudly.

Last but not least, Happy First Day of Summer! Summer is my favorite season of the entire year and I'm very excited to kick off this summer with a little bit of Pinterest Wednesday. Two trends that I'm totally loving so far this summer are: high-low dresses/skirts and pleats! Put both of those together and it is just gorgeous. Last week for cMm's birthday, I wore a blue watercolor pleated high-low dress and was absolutely loving the ensemble. Pair that with the wind and you've got some great movement going on in that outfit.

Not all high-low skirts work though. It's gotta be the right length, print, and must be correctly accessorized. Pinterest has a few great ideas!

Great color, scarf, and belt! You can't go wrong with a cute pair of wedges to pull the outfit all together!

This dress has a super cute print and I'm just a huge fan of those wedges.

Not a high-low but it is pleated. Loving this ensemble! The gold belt and accessories make it work.

Mint is so hot right now and what better than a pleated mint colored skirt?? Um, that bauble and pink belt!

What are your thoughts on the high-low trend?

Pinterest Wednesday

Is it a bit shocking that in the past week, I haven't really been on Pinterest? Usually, I'm the Pinterest Queen who pins away. This past week has been a bit busy so, my apologies for the lack of pins. However, I did pin a few random little things this week. Mostly words of inspiration to get me going.

Anyone else have this problem?

How awesome is this?

I'm very grateful to be surrounded by incredible women who set the example for me.

I'd also like to take a moment and wish my Little cMm a HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY! Oh how they grow up so fast!!! She is one fabulous lady who brings such joy to my life and is ALWAYS there for me. I'm beyond stoked to be reunited tonight, hit the town, and celebrate her life! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAIRE!

Pinterest Wednesday

Linking up with super cute blogger Michelle over at The Vintage Apple today for Pinteresting Wednesday!

I miss my bed. I'm not going to lie, I miss the comfort of being in my own, comfy bed. I will also not lie about my slight infactuation (but really, it's an obsession) with bedding. Bedding is one way that a person can express their personality in their room. It's also, in my main opinion, the focal point in a bedroom. So, I'm always on the hunt for new and cute bedding!

My bed in Beijing isn't too exciting, unfortunately. It's too sad looking to even post!

Some Bedding Pinterest finds that I'm loving this week. Can we replace what I have in Beijing with these? No? Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until June when I get back to the States!

I'm always a fan of the grey and yellow duo.

RUF-RUF-RUFFLES!! I squeal everytime I see this bedding. Doesn't it look super comfortable? PLUS ruffles and TEAL? You can't beat that.

Very classy, Tiffany's, Audrey inspired bedroom. The contrast between turquoise and black is always mad cute.

LOVING the chevron of course. So many patterns going on but they all complement one another so well!

Wouldn't typically go for something like this but it's growing on me. I think it's the polka-dot comforter!

All this bedding pinning makes me want to take a nap! No time though, too many papers to write!

Pinterest Wednesday

Being in Beijing has made me miss my room and organization. The parentals are probably laughing at this point. My room at home isn't always particularly clean and spotless but there are times where I just get in the mood of completely reorganizing the entire space. While abroad, I have...nothing. Pretty much one single tiny glass display class for storage. Bummer, right?

When I think of organization I dream of IKEA, Bath and Beyond, and the Container Store. I absolutely love cute boxes and bins. If I could, I would move one of the IKEA displays directly into my house. I've been pinning away different organizational ideas so that when I get back to the States, it will be my summer project! One of my goals for the year is to keep my room clean and organized at all times. For some odd reason I can keep my life, planner, and schedule organized but not my room. But let's be honest, I'm only in my room less than 6 or 7 hours a day and I'm out of there. Commuting is not a joke friends. It keeps life busy!

What a great idea to use jars to keep all beauty supplies in one central place. On top of that, what cute labels.

FINALLY! A way to organize all of the cupcake liners that I have.

As a goal-setting type of person, I totally approve of this organizational tool. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated throughout the week.

Perfect and practical for my rapidly growing ribbon collection.

I'm a total stationery addict and my desk is filled with different cards and designs. Love this little stationery station!

This is the ultimate organized desk and inspirational space.

Have any organizational tips for me?

Pinterest Wednesday

I'm still waiting for this so-called "spring weather" to grace Beijing. Nothing yet but in the meantime I'm trying to experience Spring through Pinterest. Dresses, skirts, mint, colored denim, and cute blouses are definitely catching my eye. I totally wish I were in the States shopping right now but for now, I will save up for a huge shopping trip when I get back!

Stripes, navy, mint colored denim, sandals, and a piece of statement jewelry!? PERFECT.

Let's talk about my love and adoration for this outfit. Get in my closet. Somebody please find me this skirt!?!?

Oh LC how I love you and your sense of style. Please come be my personal stylist?

I'm slightly obsessed with blazers. I wear my black one ALL the time. H&M is terrible for me because they have blazers in almost every color. So tempting. Blazers just pull an outfit together!

CUTE and I'm loving the print top with the neon pink skirt and gold accessories

I have a thing for stripes and this striped dress is perfect for Spring

How adorable is this skirt? The coral color and print!

Some of my favorites: blazer, stripes, skirt, and teal. YES PLEASE.

I better stop right here. If these outfits would all magically appear in my closet, I'd be quite happy. Just sayin'...

Pinterest Wednesday

So...I lied. There won't be an update on my Spring Break trip just yet. That's because it's Pinterest Wednesday! Nonetheless, I'm thoroughly enjoying my oh so very relaxing Spring Break trip. Update for sure tomorrow!

I've been starting my own stack. So far I've got a super cute watch and bracelet that go incredibly well with one another. Pinterest has got me on the hunt for new additions to my arm candy. One thing about me is that I'm very picky and it takes me awhile to make a decision because each piece HAS to work well with one another. Come on, that's the meaning of a stack, right? Cohesiveness?

How beautiful is this Michael Kors watch?? Drooling over this piece.

LOVE these. I'd totally go for the rose gold colored ones. It'll match the rest of the pieces.

Follow me on Pinterest! I'm quite the pinner!

I also want to make a shout out to my friend Miss Shannon Hansen! It's her 23rd birthday. This lady means so much to me. She has been there by my side since my freshman year of college. I miss our spontaneous coffee dates, constant laughter, and silly-ness in general. She is one of the most encouraging people I know and never fails in cheering me up when I'm feeling down. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANNON! ...I would post a pic of her but then I realized we have no pictures together. Is this serious??

Pinterest Wednesday

I'm the type of girl who loves baking. It's quite therapeutic for me and in a way, it's a creative outlet for me. I love looking for new recipes, finding cute cupcake liners at Michael's, trying out these new recipes, and sharing treats with my friends. It has been over a month since I've last baked and am feeling a bit deprived! I have now resorted to Pinterest to dream about baking and eating cupcakes and other yummy treats. Will someone please find me an oven...or a good brownie...or cupcake to shove in my face?

When I get back, I will be printing this out and framing it.

Raspberry Lemon Cupcakes. Sounds refreshing! Perfect for the summer.

Chocolate Nutella Cupcakes. Craving for some nutella right now...but in reality, every day.

Chocolate Chip Cherry Cheesecake. Think about it. Yup, sounds DELICIOUS.

Apple Pie Bites. yum yum yum!

Thank you Pinterest for satisfying my craving for baked goods through pictures and recipes. I can't wait to try a few of these out in a couple of months!

Are you following my pins?

PS so many work stories to tell you all. There's never a boring week here in Beijing.

Pinterest Wednesday

It's the one topic I've been avoiding since arriving to Beijing: FITNESS. My roommate and I like to ask each other, "Be honest, am I looking fat?" We of course say no to one another but there is no doubt I'm feeling these rolls setting in. Helloooooo love handles? All day every day I just eat carbs: noodles, rice, dough, and bread. That wouldn't be a problem in the US but in Beijing, it's kind of hard seeing that I can't run in the smog and the gym  membership is MAD expensive. So, I've resorted to Pinterest to find some workouts/motivation and lose these jelly rolls!!

Alright, time to get back in shape! Well, technically, I worked out A TON at the concert today (I pretty much ran laps around the venue) but my first day of LEGIT fitness work outs start tomorrow. Hope this goes well!
